What is one wish you would make if you knew it would come true?
I'd wish for there to no longer be a need for foster care.
Heather is a birth mom to 3 and has been a foster mom, or Honey, to over 40 children as they have come through her home. She has always had a heart for service, especially foster children, as she grew up with them in her home.
With a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Louisiana Lafayette, Heather began as an elementary school teacher. Once she became a foster parent, her priorities changed to serving foster children, along with their birth and foster families — helping them navigate difficult life experiences as a foster parent mentor. She is now Executive Director for Foster the Love.
She continues to help foster families by using her experiences to connect with others, bring support to both foster parents and the children in their homes, and bridge the gap between the state, case workers, and foster families to provide the best care for children while they are in foster care.
When she retires from her job as both foster mom and Executive Director, Heather hopes to travel with Jerry, her husband of over 25 years. She has always loved road trips, outdoor experiences such as white water rafting, unique towns, and roller coasters (just not the Disney Tea Cups!). She would one day like to go sky diving.
Heather loves sharing her story and advocating for foster children and all of the families that support them. Whether you are interested in fostering, want to learn how you can use your talents to support children in foster care, or partner with us as a company — she encourages you to reach out to her.
